Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - In his much anticipated home debut, it was pretty uneventful night for Hagerstown OF Bryce Harper. While Harper was 0-3 with a walk for the Suns, it was the BlueClaws bats that finally broke out of their slumber to pound out 13 hits and score a season high 8 runs. RHP David Buchanan (1-0) got the start for Lakewood, and allowed 4 hits and 4 runs, only 2 of them earned while picking up his first win as a BlueClaw. Lakewood's defense was sloppy as they committed 3 errors on the night, but their offense picked them up for the first time this year.

C Torre Langley and OF Geancarlo Mendez were both 4-3 in the game with a run scored and a doudle. Langley picked up 2 RBI's, and 1B Jim Murphy had 1 as well, and they are now tied for the team lead with 3 RBI's on the season. OF Domingo Santana responded to being left out of Manager Chris Truby's lineup Thursday by smacking 2 hits Friday, and only 2 starters for Lakewood did not collect a hit in the game. OF Zach Collier left the game after being thrown out trying to steal second in the 4th inning. He did not return.

The BlueClaws improve to 4-4 on the season, and the Suns fall to 6-3. Saturday Lakewood will try to make it 2 in a row as they trot out LHP Jesse Biddle (0-1, 1.93 ERA) against LHP Bobby Hansen (0-0, 3.60 ERA) for Hagerstown. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
