LAST NIGHT: West Virginia rallied late but could not over come Hagerstown in a 6-5 loss. The Power scored in the first on a sac fly, but the Suns scored the next six, plating one in the third, two in the fourth, one in the sixth, and two in the seventh. West Virginia managed two in the seventh, including a leadoff home run by Kyle Morgan, and two in the eighth to cap the scoring. Power hitters struck out 15 times during the game and the defense committed four errors. Quinton Miller took the loss to finish the season with a 3-6 record and a 5.13 earned run average.

ONE TOO MANY: The Power loss on Friday night has guaranteed that the club cannot finish the second half or the entire 2010 home schedule with a winning record. The club is now 31-35 in the second half and has an identical home record for the year with three games remaining.

A SOLID SEASON: Phillip Irwin made his final scheduled start of 2010 in Thursday's win over Rome. Irwin finished the season 6-3 with a staff best 3.35 ERA in 23 appearances. The Collierville, Tennessee native struck out 111 in 113.0 innings and only walked 20 batters. His 3.35 earned run average ranks fifth in the league, but could finish as high as fourth based on other players innings totals.

HONORED: Three former Power players from the 2009 club were recognized this week as All-Stars in their new respective leagues. Rudy Owens has named the left-handed pitcher of the season in the Eastern League after going 12-6 with a 2.46 ERA and compiling 132 strikeouts. Noah Krol was honored by the Florida State League for his efforts in 2010, when he went 5-6 with 33 saves. Quincy Latimore was also selected as a post season All-Star in the FSL after batting .265 with 18 home runs and 99 runs batted in. No former members of the Power in the Milwaukee brewers system were selected for any postseason accolades.

END OF THE ROAD: West Virginia's recently completed road trip was their final excursion for the 2010 season. The Power went 31-39 away from Charleston this season, hit .244 as a club, and held a staff ERA of 4.63. David Rubinstein led the club with a .317 road average, while Aaron Baker hit 12 of his 18 total home runs on the road. Phillip Irwin excelled on the road, going 3-0 with a 2.05 earned run average, while Kyle McPherson had a staff-best 57 strikeouts away from Appalachian Power Park. The 2009 version of the club went 34-36 away from home with a .260 average and a 4.45 ERA.

WE ARE FAM-A-LEE: Pittsburgh farm teams have the eighth best winning percentage in Minor League Baseball at .525. St. Louis's minor league clubs have a combined winning percentage of .549 to lead baseball, while Minnesota has the lowest at .433. Only the Mariners, Rays, Cardinals, Cubs, Yankees, and Mets affiliates have combined for more victories than those in the Pirates organization.

WALK THIS WAY: Evan Chambers leads the South Atlantic League with 89 walks and still ranks in the top ten across all of Minor League Baseball despite not having played between August 17 and August 31. Conner Crumbliss of Kane County leads all minor leaguers with 120 walks.

POWER POINTS: Andy Vasquez had his hitting streak snapped at six games with an 0-5 Friday night... West Virginia is 12-16 in daytime contests this season with two remaining afternoon starts left. The Power, conversely, are 50-58 at night...The Power did not place any players on the South Atlantic League's end-of-season All-Star squad.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh beat Washington 8-5 at PNC Park... Indianapolis fell 16-6 to Louisville... Altoonadropped a 9-4 final to Reading... Bradenton lost 5-3 at Charlotte... State College also lost, falling 3-0 to Williamsport at Historic Bowman Field.

ON THE AIR: All 140 West Virginia Power games can be heard on ESPN 104.5 FM and 1490 in Charleston, WV, across the state on the Power Radio Network, and online at milb.com.
