LAKEWOOD, NJ - For the second straight game the Lakewood BlueClaws pitchers, led by Julio Rodriguez stymied the bats of the Kannapolis Intimidators as the BlueClaws struck out 15 en route to a 3-0 victory.

Rodriguez (5-1) went six innings with 11 strikeouts, allowing just two hits with one walk for the win in his final start of 2010. He was followed with a 1-2-3 inning from Ebelin Lugo and two scoreless by Joshua Zeid, who picked up his eighth save of the season. From a one-out walk in the fourth, the Intimidators (33-35) were retired in order, 17 straight to end the ballgame. Over the last two games, the BlueClaws (41-26) have had 14 three-batter innings and just four innings where the Intimidators did not go down in order.

Matt Wickswat made his final start of 2010 and pitched well. Wickswat (7-7) went six innings and allowed three runs, two earned with three walks and eight strikeouts in the loss and finishes the season with a sub-four ERA. He allowed runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth, but pitched well on the night.

In the fourth inning, Wickswat allowed a one-out walk to Stephen Batts, who scored as Anthony Hewitt was stealing second. In the fifth it was a two-out RBI-single by Leandro Castro that made it 2-0, and in the sixth Jeremy Barnes scored on a double by Anthony Hewitt, Barnes himself reached on a double.

Terence Marin, a free agent pickup in July, made his Intimidators debut and worked a 1-2-3 inning in the seventh and Kevin Moran pitched a clean inning in the eighth to wrap up the game.

This is the ninth time the Intimidators have been shutout this season, the second this week. They look for their first win of the series on Sunday at 7:05 pm as Cameron Byane takes to the hill for the final time, opposed by Brody Colvin.
