LAST NIGHT: West Virginia dropped the series opener at Augusta, falling 4-3 to the GreenJackets. The Power scored a run in the third and a run in thr fourth, but allowed four in the sixth, including two on a Luke Anders home run. The Power got one run back in the eighth inning, but could not complete the comeback. Zach Foster surrendered all four runs, each of which was unearned, and was charged with a blown save and the loss. Jose Hernandez had three hits in the defeat.

MASTERS OF AUGUSTA: The GreenJackets hold the edge in the all-time series between West Virginia and Augusta 18-11, and have won 13 of 17 games played at Lake Olmstead Stadium since 2005. At Appalachian Power Park, West Virginia leads the set 7-5, but Augusta isn't slated to appear in Charleston during this or the 2011 season.

FIRST OF ITS KIND: West Virginia's loss Monday was the first time this season that the opposition won a game with less than three runs scored. The Power are now 24-1 when holding their opponents to zero, one, or two runs in a game. When the opposition scores between 3-7 runs, West Virginia is 30-46, and when they score eight or more in a game, the Power are 4-23.

VASQUEZ JOINS ACTIVE ROSTER: The Pittsburgh Pirates added infielder Andy Vasquez to West Virginia's active roster on Monday. The switch-hitter batted .220 for State College during 16 games this season, with two home runs and six runs batted in. Vasquez was signed as an international free agent on September 4, 2006, but will make his South Atlantic League debut when he first appears for the Power. No counter move was needed as West Virginia had been one man shy of a full compliment since Melkin Laureano was placed on the disabled list on August 4.

STREAKING: David Rubinstein is on a ten-game hitting streak dating back to August 16. It is the fourth streak of six games or more for the All-Star outfielder. This current run has seen Rubinstein reach with exactly one base hit in each of his last ten games, going 10-36 with two home runs and six runs batted in. The Appalachian State product has appeared in 104 games this season, despite the fact he did not become an everyday player until mid-May.

WE ARE FAM-A-LEE: Pittsburgh farm teams have the eighth best winning percentage in Minor League Baseball at .532. Seattle's minor league clubs have a combined winning percentage of .549 to lead baseball, while Minnesota has the lowest at .431. Only the Mariners, Rays, Cardinals, and Mets affiliates have combined for more victories than those in the Pirates organization.

WALK OF LIFE: Evan Chambers leads the South Atlantic League with 87 walks and ranks across all of Minor League Baseball, trailing only Conner Crumbliss of Kane County (107), Lake Elsinore's Vincent Belnome (95), West Michigan's Jamie Johnson (91), and a pack of four players with 88 walks each.

POWER POINTS: Evan Chambers has not played since getting hit in the head by a pitch on 8/17... Power starting pitchers are now 12-3 when going seven or more innings this season... Jose Hernandez leads the club with nine games played this season where he has reached on three or more hits...

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh beat St. Louis 5-2. Garrett Jones hit his 19th home run of the season in the win... Indianapolis beat Louisville 6-2. Alex Presley hit his sixth Triple-A home run in the victory... Altoona lost 3-1 to Erie... Bradenton's doubleheader with St. Lucie was postponed and the clubs will try to play two today... State College upended Mahoning Valley 3-1.

ON THE AIR: All 140 West Virginia Power games can be heard on ESPN Radio 1490 AM in Charleston, WV, across the state on the Power Radio Network, and online at milb.com. Adam Marco will call the action for each of the 70 home games this season, while the home team will provide coverage while the Power are on the road.
