LAST NIGHT: West Virginia was shutout for the eighth time this season, dropping a 3-0 final at Delmarva. The Shorebirds took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on a home run by Tyler Townsend and added two in the sixth against the Power bullpen. West Virginia managed just three hits in the game, matching their season-low for base hits in a game this year. Kyle McPherson took the loss despite adding nine strikeouts to his now league-best total.

STILL STREAKING PART TWO: Jarek Cunningham's double last night extended his current hitting streak to nine games. The infielder is batting .293 during this streak, with 12 hits in 41 at bats. From May 31 though June 18, Cunningham had an 18 game streak, which had until recently been the longest in the league this year. Lakewood's Jiwan James is currently on a 22 game hitting streak of this own.

THE K-MAN: Kyle McPherson struck out nine batters over six innings on Friday. McPherson has 103 strikeouts this season, tops among pitchers in the SAL. The right-hander surpassed Brandon Moore with his fifth strikeout last night. Moore began the year with Savannah and struck out 98, but has been promoted to St. Lucie.

HONORED... AND GOODBYE: On Monday, Nathan Baker was honored by the South Atlantic League as the Pitcher of the Week. The southpaw went 1-0 from July 5 though 11, with an ERA of 0.00 over two starts, including eight no-hit innings at Hagerstown on July 6. On Wednesday, Pittsburgh promoted Baker to the Bradenton Marauders roster. The SAL All-Star was 6-5 with a 2.99 earned run average this season.

HELLO AGAIN: The Pirates filled the open Power roster spot by transferring Melkin Laureano back to West Virginia from Bradenton. Laureano began the year with the Power, going 2-3 with a 2.83 ERA over ten outings, including five starts, and was promoted to Bradenton on May 24. During his stint in the Florida State League, the right-hander went 3-1 with a 3.82 earned run average.

WALK THIS WAY: Evan Chambers has walked 68 times this year to lead the South Atlantic League. Chambers ranks third across all of Minor League Baseball, trailing only Kila Ki'aihue of Omaha (77) and Conner Crumbliss of Kane County (74). Chambers has not walked, however, his last four games after having taken a free pass in six straight from July 5 through 10.

POWER POINTS: Power pitchers blew a save in three straight games with the club having gone 1-2 during that span from July 10-12... West Virginia batters were held to three hits last night, marking the seventh time this season that the Power have been held to a trio of hits... Kyle McPherson's six inning start last night was his sixth quality start in 18 outings... Former Power All-Star Chase d'Arnaud hit a seventh inning grand slam and was named the Eastern League All-Star Game Most Valuable Player.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh was idle yesterday and resumes play tonight at home against Houston... Indianapolis lost at Rochester 7-5... Altoona fell 9-7 at Harrisburg... Bradenton rallied to beat Clearwater 8-7... State College lost 5-0 at Connecticut.

ON THE AIR: All 140 West Virginia Power games can be heard on ESPN Radio 1490 AM in Charleston, WV, across the state on the Power Radio Network, and online at milb.com. Adam Marco will call the action for each of the 70 home games this season, while the home team will provide coverage while the Power are on the road.
