CHARLESTON, SC - Luke Anders went 4-for-5, and Augusta scored five unearned runs in the sixth inning to power past the Charleston RiverDogs, 9-1, in front of 4,738 fans in South Atlantic League action at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park on Friday night.

With the victory, Augusta ends a two-game skid and improves to 11-11, 52-40 overall, while Charleston's win streak ends at three games, falling to 10-12, 41-50 overall, with the loss.

Both clubs were held scoreless until the top of the fifth, when Ydwin Villegas scored from third on Ryan Cavan's groundout for a 1-0 Augusta lead. Villegas walked to open the frame and moved to third on Evan Crawford's ground rule double down the right-field line. Nick Liles' sacrifice fly pushed Crawford home to give the GreenJackets a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the fifth.

The RiverDogs got on board, when Slade Heathcott, in his first game since July 7, knocked a RBI single to right scoring Kelvin Castro. Castro reached base, when he hit his 15th double of the year to left-centerfield.

The GreenJackets added some major insurance to their one-run lead in the top of the sixth, capitalizing on two Charleston errors to score five unearned runs in the inning for a 7-1 advantage. Luke Anders singled to open the frame and moved into scoring position on a Brett Marshall wild pitch.

With two outs, a fielding error by Jimmy Parades allowed Anders to come home. Ydwin Villegas's single to right moved Ryan Lollis to third, who went on to score on another Marshall wild pitch, 4-1 Augusta.

Gabriel Tatis entered the game and uncorked a wild pitch to bring Villegas home, 5-1 GreenJackets. Augusta seized the opportunity yet again, when a throwing error by Emerson Landoni allowed Evan Crawford and Ryan Cavan to move across home plate, giving the GreenJackets a 7-1 lead going into the bottom of the sixth.

Nick Liles contributed a RBI single in the eighth upping the margin to 8-1, while Tommy Joseph - who celebrated his 19th birthday - scored on a ninth-inning wild pitch for the eventual 9-1 final.

GreenJackets starter Jeremy Toole (3-3) takes the win, after giving up five hits and just one earned run in 6.0 complete innings of work. The former BYU standout notched his first victory since May 28.

Charleston starter Brett Marshall (1-1) takes the loss after giving up seven hits and two earned runs - six total -- in 5.2 innings of work. The Highlands, Tex. native fanned three in just his fourth start since returning from Tommy John surgery on July 1.

Game four of this five-game series is set for Saturday at 7:05 p.m., with Charleston sending left-hander Josh Romanski (4-2, 3.28) to the mound, while Augusta counters with right-hander Brian Irving (5-2, 4.07).
