
Power fall in 11 to Sand Gnats

Savannah, GA -The West Virginia Power came from behind twice to tie the Savannah Sand Gnats at Grayson Stadium on Friday night, but the Gnats pulled away with a victory on an RBI double from Tim Pahuta in the bottom of the eleventh inning, beating the Power 3-2.
Scott Schade drove in the first run of the contest on an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning to give the Gnats the lead. The Power tied the game on Nestor Corredor's two out RBI double in the eighth inning. The Gnats took the lead again in the bottom of the eighth on Dee Brown's run scoring double. Down to their final strike, the Power received a big two out RBI double from Mike Bell to tie the game at 2-2. The game ended in the bottom of the eleventh inning when Tim Pahuta stepped in with runners on first and second base, and ripped the game winning RBI double down the right field line.
West Virginia's record in extra innings fell to 3-4 and the Sand Gants improved to 6-4 in games with extra frames. Power starter Shawn Ferguson tossed six innings of two hit ball and only allowed a hit while striking out seven.
Don Levinski (1-1) earned the victory, and Josh Louis (1-1) got the loss. The Power are 54-49 overall and 15-19 in the second half after the loss while the Sand Gnats improved to 45-60 overall and 17-18 in the second half after the win.
The Power will continue the four game series against the Savannah Sand Gnats at Grayson Stadium on Saturday night. Left hander Gene Yost (7-3, 3.61) will make the start for Savannah and the Power will counter with left hander Dave Welch (3-6, 2.84). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
