
Grasshoppers Bounce Catfish, 12-7

Columbus, GA - The Greensboro Grasshoppers (16-17) took full advantage of six walks by Columbus Catfish (16-19) pitchers to win 12-7 at Golden Park Friday. The loss makes five straight for Columbus, tying a season-high losing streak.
After the Grasshoppers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning the Catfish responded with four runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. SS Ivan DeJesus singled, 1B Jason Mooneyham walked and 2B Travis Denker singled to load the bases with no one out. Mooneyham later scored on a fielding error by 3B Jonathan Fulton. 3B Russ Mitchell then stroked a three-run homer to left field, giving the Catfish a 4-3 lead. It was his 13th of the season.
LF Adam Godwin singled to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning. CF Bridger Hunt then doubled to right field, and Godwin scored when the throw by RF Kris Harvey sailed high over third base. DeJesus later singled to score Hunt and give the Catfish a 6-3 lead.
Five runs in the top half of the sixth inning gave Greensboro an 8-6 lead. Columbus got one run back in the bottom of the sixth when Hunt raced home on a wild pitch. The Grasshoppers piled on four runs in the eighth inning to help secure a 12-7 win.
RHP Joey Norrito gave up four runs, three earned, in two innings and suffered the loss. The win went to RHP Jason Iehl (2-3), who pitched two innings in relief. He allowed one unearned run.
Mooneyham went 1-for-3 with one RBI and two walks. He has reached base in 45 consecutive games.
