The West Virginia Power beat the Hickory Crawdads 8-1 Monday afternoon in a rain-shortened, five inning game at Appalachian Power Park. Rogelio Noris hit two home runs as the Power earned a series split against the division-leading Crawdads.

Hickory took the lead in the third inning when Leury Garcia drove in Leonel De Los Santos with a single past a drawn in infield.

The lead have short-lived, though, as West Virginia scored three runs on four hits during the home half of the inning. Bengie Gonzalez tripled and scored on a single by Evan Chambers. After Arron Baker reached in his second single of the game, David Rubinstein doubled to drive home a pair and back Power starter Jason Erickson to a 3-1 lead.

Noris led off the bottom of the fourth with his seventh home run of the year. Jose Hernandez reached on a single and later scored on a Chambers base hit.

Light showers gradually increased intensity during the top of the fifth inning, but Erickson set the Crawdads' side down in order. Jarek Cunningham reached on a single to start the bottom of the inning and scored on a two-base hit by Ramon Cabrera. Noris then drove a 1-0 pitch in a heavy downpour from Hickory's Joe Wieland out of the park down the left field line for the first multi-home run game by any Power player this season.

West Virginia began to take the field for the sixth inning, but were called back by umpires Tim Rosso and Shea Gipson. The decision to end the game came approximately 35 minutes after the final out of the fifth was recorded.

Erickson (4-3) earned the win with a rain-shortened, complete game four-hitter, while Wieland (4-3) took the loss. Power hitters managed 11 base hits over five innings, with eight of the nine batters reaching on at least one base hit. Chambers, Baker, and Noris each had two hits to lead the attack, while Chamber, Noris, and Rubinstein drove in multiple runs each.

The Power travel to Lexington on Tuesday and open four game series against the Legends. West Virginia and Lexington played at Appalachian Power Park from May 24 though 27 and split a four-game set.
