Suns Shut Down Drive 4-0

The Hagerstown Suns (28-23) came out with the win against the Greenville Drive (25-27) 4-0 on Monday afternoon.

In the bottom of the second, Hagerstown's Brett Newsome scored on ground out by Destin Hood. Later, J.R. Higley hit a sacrifice fly leading Hood to score.

The Suns got another run in the bottom of the fourth with Adrian Nieto hitting a double causing J.P Ramirez to score.

In the seventh, the Suns bats kept swinging. J.R Higley grounded a ball to left field right off the bat. The momentum did not stop there as Higley scored off a Jeff Kobernus line drive to right field.

Greenville never seemed to get into the grove only getting seven hits but zero runs.

Hagerstown's Paul Demny (3-1) came out with the win after pitching five innings with seven strikeouts. Kyle Morrison pitched the sixth, seventh, and eighth only allowing four hits. Rob Wort came in during the ninth and finished the game not giving up a run.

Drive starter Pete Ruiz (4-3) got the loss of the afternoon after allowing three runs.

The Suns will start a four-game homestand against the Lakewood Blueclaws on Tuesday at 5:35 p.m. to a previous game from May 27th. The regular scheduled game will start thirty minutes prior to the first game going seven innings. Gates to Municipal Stadium open at 5:00 p.m.
