Savannah Sand Gnats News Release
Rome, GA - The Savannah Sand Gnats defeated the Rome Braves 5-2 in front of 2,245 fans at State Mutual Stadium in the series finale. Rome and Savannah split the four game series at two wins a piece.
Savannah got on the board with one run in the fourth on a throwing error to score Nick Santomauro. The Sand Gnats would add to their lead in the sixth on a Kai Gronauer single to right to plate Jefry Marte for the 2-0 lead.
Rome tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth on a two run homerun from Jake Hanson (1) that scored Robert Hefflinger. Savannah took the lead for good in the ninth inning with three runs for the 5-2 final.
Erik Turgeon (2-1) picks up the win for Savannah while Rome's Ryan Weber (0-4) gets the loss. Michael Powers earns his sixth save of the year for the Gnats.
