Poteet to New Orleans, Smith to Jacksonville

Right-handed starting pitcher Cody Poteet has been transferred from Jacksonville to Triple-A New Orleans. A 2019 Southern League Midseason All-Star, Poteet was 5-3 with a 2.25 ERA (fourth-best in the S.L.) in his 13 starts for the Jumbo Shrimp. This is the first call-up to the Triple-A level in Poteet's career.

In a corresponding move, right-handed relief pitcher Chad Smith has been transferred from High-A Jupiter to Jacksonville. Smith pitched in 20 games for the Hammerheads collecting six saves while going 1-1 with a 4.63 ERA. Smith was originally selected by the Marlins in the 11th round of the 2016 draft out of Ole Miss, and this is the first call-up to the Double-A level in his career.

The Jumbo Shrimp roster stands at 25 active players along with left-handed pitcher Caleb Smith on his major league rehab assignment, and a revised roster is attached.

The Jumbo Shrimp will begin a five-game series with the Chattanooga Lookouts on Sunday at 6:35 p.m. at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
