Montgomery Biscuits News Release
JACKSON, Ten. - After falling behind early, 3-0, the Biscuits (50-31) rallied and ripped off six unanswered runs in a 6-3 comeback victory over the Jackson Generals (43-38) on Sunday night at The Ballpark at Jackson.
Josh Fleming (6-4) made his 12th start of the year for the Butter and Blue, and after working a scoreless first, allowed back-to-back singles to open up the bottom of the second. Mark Karaviotis then grounded into a 6-4-3 double play, but that plated the first run of the game and put the Generals up 1-0.
An inning later, Drew Ellis hooked a two-run double down the left field line and made it a 3-0 ballgame. The Biscuits had no answer for Generals starter Kevin McCanna (3-4) through the first three innings, but in the fourth, Kevin Padlo clobbered a lead-off double to straightaway center, and would score in the same inning on a throwing error by Jackson catcher Daulton Varsho to make it 3-1.
Later in the fourth, Miles Mastrobuoni yanked a two-run triple down the right field line to tie the game at three. The eighth batter of the inning was the switch-hitting shortstop Taylor Walls, who punched an RBI-single into left center and capped off the four-run fourth by handing the Biscuits the lead for good.
Fleming would go six innings for a quality outing, and then handed the reins to Dalton Moats, who was almost perfect in three scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit, but retiring the rest. The Biscuits then padded their lead with two more runs in the ninth, thanks to an RBI-fielder's choice by Walls, and an RBI-single by Tristan Gray.
The Biscuits will try to make it three-straight wins on Monday night when an opener and Riley O'Brien (4-5, 4.11) take on the Generals again at 6:05 PM CT.
The Biscuits will return to Riverwalk Stadium for the start of a six-game series against the Tennessee Smokies on July 4 for an Independence Day Celebration featuring a Tank Top Giveaway presented by Alfa Insurance and MAX Fireworks.
The six-game homestand will also feature a Bicentennial Celebration featuring a Jersey Auction and MAX Fireworks on Friday, July 5; Beach Night and MAX Fireworks on Saturday, July 6; Lil' Crumbs Dress Like a Player Socks Giveaway on Sunday, July 7; and Camp Day on Tuesday, July 9.
