Portland Pirates Recall Josh Brown and Sign Tony Turgeon

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach, Rich Seeley, announced today that Josh Brown has been recalled by the Portland Pirates (AHL) and Tony Turgeon has been signed to a Professional Tryout Contract.

Brown, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound defenseman, was selected by the Florida Panthers in the sixth round (152nd overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. With the Monarchs this season, Brown has played in 18 games, recording four points on one goal and three assists, earning 38 penalty minutes.

The London, Ontario native, leads all ECHL rookies in major penalties (4), penalty minutes (38) and is tied for third in plus/minus (+9). Brown was on Portland's Opening Night roster and was assigned to Manchester on October 21.

Turgeon, a 6-foot-4, 228-pound forward has played in eight games for the Monarchs this season. Turgeon notched his first professional goal Friday, Nov. 24, against Atlanta in a 3-2 loss, and has recorded 11 penalty minutes.

Over the past two seasons, the Grand Forks, N.D. native, split time between the AHL and ECHL, playing for the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL) and the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League, as well as a stop with the Allen Americans last season.
