Aces Acquire Deluca, Johnston from Wichita

ANCHORAGE, AK - The Alaska Aces have acquired forward Anthony Deluca and defenseman Daniel Johnston from the Wichita Thunder in exchange for forward Dean Chelios and defenseman Landon Oslanski.

Aces Head Coach and President of Hockey Operations Rob Murray made the announcement Tuesday.

The 20 year old Deluca, a native of Rosemere, Quebec, Canada, comes to Alaska after appearing in 16 games for the Thunder. The 5-8, 205 pound forward scored one goal and assisted on 5 others for 6 points. Prior to landing in Wichita, Deluca played with Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where in 3 seasons and 202 games he scored 101 goals with 108 assists for 209 points.

The 23 year old Johnston, a native of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, comes to Alaska after appearing in 3 games for the Thunder and earlier this season, 7 games with Idaho. The 6-2, 212 pound defender scored once and assisted on 2 goals in those 10 games. Last season Johnston split time between Colorado and Evansville.

Chelios leaves Alaska after scoring 3 goals and 13 assists in 27 games after being acquired last season from Indy.

Oslanski heads to Wichita after scoring 5 goals with 11 assists for 16 points in 32 games in Glacier Blue after being acquired from Missouri last season.

The Aces open a three game series against the Colorado Eagles Wednesday night at 7:15pm at the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage.
