The Portland Winter Hawks scored goals 12-seconds apart in the second period and defeated the Spokane Chiefs 2-1 on Friday night in the Spokane Arena. The loss dropped their fourth game in regulation on the season, just their second at home, and now sit 11-4-0- 3 on the year with 25 points.

Taylor Jordan scored the game's first goal 9:22 into the second period and then Brock Cornish added the eventual winner on a scramble in front of the net at 9:35.

Spokane got on the board at 5:42 of the third when Steve Kuhn poked a loose puck past Kurtis Mucha in the crease and pulled the Chiefs within one.

The Chiefs outhsot Portland 40-26, including 18-8 in the third, but the Winter Hawks picked up their second win in three games.

Spokane was 0-4 on the power play and 3-3 on the penalty kill.

The Tri-City Americans, Saturday night's opponent in the Arena, earned a 5-4 shootout win over the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday night and took a two point lead for first place in the U.S. Division.

Saturday is American Family Insurance Buck Night with one dollar hot dogs, popcorn and Coca Cola products available all night long. Fans are encouraged to wear red and create a Red Out in the Spokane Arena.
