Portland, OR - The Portland Winterhawks tallied four goals in the third period to come from behind and defeat the Everett Silvertips, 4-3 Friday night. Ryan Murray scored his first career WHL goal while Chris de la Lande and Chris Langkow rounded out the scoring for Everett. Shane Harper extended his point streak to six games with an assist Friday night. Harper now has 12 points in those six games (8G, 4A).

Everett got up on the Winterhawks first Friday night with Murray's first career WHL goal. Taking advantage of a Tayler Jordan tripping call, Murray put home Everett's first goal on the power play at 14:18. Chris Francis tied the score 1-1 at 18:33 with a shorthanded tally for his 12th of the season. Everett controlled the lead in shots 13-8 after 20 minutes of play.

The Silvertips regained the lead at 12:38 after Langkow collected his 10th goal of the year 4 on 4. Langkow collected a Harper pass on the side of the Portland net, and threw the puck off the side of the net that bounced off Portland goalie Mac Carruth and in for a 2-1 Everett lead. Portland had their potential second goal waived off after Luke Walker was determined to kick the puck in at 13:00.

Portland tied the game at 1:31 of the third period with Nino Niederreiter's 17th goal of the year. Niederreiter received a Brad Ross pass on top of the crease to beat Kent Simpson low at the end of an Everett penalty, tying the score 2-2. Everett fought right back at 5:15 when de la Lande riffled a slap shot past Carruth for the 3-2 Silvertips lead. Ross started the Winterhawks comeback at 6:04 sniping the puck top shelf, blocker side from the slot, making the score 3-3. Portland took their first lead of the game on the power play at 14:42. Eric Doyle received a Ross pass backdoor for a 4-3 Winterhawks lead. Everett pulled Simpson for the extra attacker, but Portland took advantage of the empty net to conclude the scoring Friday night.

This brings the 'Tips record to 16-9-1-0 with 33 points in 26 games played. Everett concludes their two game road trip tomorrow night heading to Kent, WA for a divisional match-up against the Seattle Thunderbirds at 7:05.
