SOUTHAVEN, MS ---DeSoto Animal Rescue Society, D.A.R.S., will be stopping by the DeSoto Civic Center Saturday, February 24 for the Memphis RiverKings game. D.A.R.S. will be the featured non-profit Saturday, as the RiverKings face off against the Rocky Mountain Rage at 7:05pm.
DeSoto Animal Rescue Society rescues adoptable companion animals in DeSoto County, and offers suitable foster homes until permanent homes can be found. Interim medical care is another service of DeSoto Animal Rescue Society.
"Participating with the RiverKings as part of their featured non-profit program will help us to get our organization out to the public," said Wendy Badarello, representative of DeSoto Animal Rescue Society. "We want the community to know we are looking to find permanent homes for these animals."
D.A.R.S. will be bringing five adoptable dogs to the RiverKings game on Saturday. "Last year we had over 300 animals adopted," Badarello said as she spoke about the organizations successful year. "This year our goal is to educate the community on the importance of spaying and neutering."
Individuals interested in adopting a pet or becoming a foster care volunteer should visit the table Saturday night. "At any given point in time we have between 60 and 70 animals in our system," said Badarello. "We have approximately 25 homes fostering those animals right now."
DeSoto Animal Rescue Society will be hosting a raffle at their table on the concourse, behind section 117, at the RiverKings game Saturday. One dollar per ticket or six tickets for five dollars will get you a chance to win some great dog paraphernalia.
"We will also have a game night special on sanita clogs," continued Badarello. "These clogs retail at $105 but will be available at the RiverKings game for $40."
