Winston-Salem, N.C. - Adam Plutko dealt seven innings on Monday night, but Terance Marin was better as the Winston-Salem Dash blanked the Carolina Mudcats 3-0. The Dash (7-5, 37-44) avoid their first home sweep to the Mudcats (6-6, 35-44).

The Mudcats saw their three-game winning streak halted. The team is 0-4 this year when trying for a fourth consecutive victory.

Plutko (1-3) shoulders another tough loss after allowing three runs on eight hits across seven innings. He walked one and fanned two.

Marin (2-0) was superb for the Dash. The right-hander limited the Mudcats to two hits across eight innings. He retired 13 straight to finish the outing and 17 of his final 18. He struck out four and walked one. Kyle Hansen worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth for his first save.

Winston-Salem broke a scoreless stalemate in the fourth when Jason Coats began the frame with a solo blast to left. Keon Barnum followed with a double and scored on a base hit by Omar Narvaez. Barnum continued to swing a hot bat in the sixth, cranking his sixth home run of the year out to left.

Alex Monsalve provided the Mudcats with a chance to score in the second when he led off with a triple. He was cut down at home on a ground ball to third off the bat of LeVon Washington.

The Mudcats return home to host the Lynchburg Hillcats on Tuesday, July 1. Gates open at 6 p.m. for a 7 p.m. first pitch.
