Frederick Keys News Release
FREDERICK, MD -The Frederick Keys are pleased to announce that Dylan Bundy is scheduled to make a rehab start with the team on Thursday night, when the Keys host the Salem Red Sox at 6:00 p.m. On the mend from "Tommy John" surgery last June, it will be Bundy's fourth rehab start, and his first appearance in a Keys uniform since August 8, 2012.
All of Bundy's three prior rehab starts have come at Short-Season Aberdeen. Working five innings in each outing, the right-hander went 0-1 with a 0.60 ERA over three games. In 15 innings, Bundy, 21, allowed just one run on 10 hits, while he walked three and struck out 22. Opponents were batting only .189 against him.
Thursday's start will mark Bundy's 13th overall appearance as a member of the Keys. After beginning his professional career with Low-A Delmarva, the 21-year-old was promoted to Frederick in late May 2012, after he did not allow an earned run in 30 innings with the Shorebirds. In 12 games with Frederick, Bundy went 6-3 with a 2.84 ERA over 57 innings. He scattered only 48 hits and struck out 66, en route to being named a Carolina League All-Star. Promoted to Double-A Bowie that August, Bundy made three starts with the Baysox, before making his Major League debut on September 23, 2012 against the Boston Red Sox.
Rated the No. 15 overall prospect in the minors by Baseball America entering 2014, as well as the top prospect in the Orioles system by the same publication, Bundy was selected by Baltimore with the fourth overall pick in 2011. Named the Gatorade Player of the Year, he went 11-0 with a 0.20 ERA to go along with 158 strikeouts over 71 innings at Owasso (OK) High School. Not the only member of his family to play for the Keys, Bundy's older brother, Bobby, went 11-5 with a 2.75 ERA over 20 starts with the orange and black in 2011.
The Frederick Keys wrap up their three-game series with Potomac on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. Black Schwartz (1-0, 2.70) makes the start for the P-Nats, while the Keys have not announced their starter. Frederick returns home on Tuesday night, and will take home the Salem Red Sox at 7:00 p.m. For ticket information call 301-815-9939 or visit frederickkeys.com.
The Frederick Keys are the Advanced-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and play their home games at Harry Grove Stadium. For more information about the Frederick Keys please contact Geoff Arnold by phone at (301)-815-9915 or by emailing at GArnold@FrederickKeys.com.
