Edinburg Roadrunners News Release

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners held on for a 2-1 win over the San Angelo Colts Friday night at Foster Field behind a strong pitching performance from Matison Smith.

The Colts (34-33) took the early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a bases loaded sacrifice fly by Cory Patton.

San Angelo held the lead behind a complete game from starter Brian Henschel (4-7) who gave up two runs with seven strikeouts.

The Roadrunners (41-26) got to Henschel, who took the loss, in the top of the seventh when Cristobal Santana hit his first homerun of the season to tie the game. Later in the inning with the bases loaded, Wilmer Pino hit an RBI single that scored Osiel Flores giving Edinburg the 2-1.

Matison Smith (6-4) answered Henschel's outing with a strong performance of his own. Smith pitched eight innings and allowed just one run while scattering eight hits.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Colts put two runners on but Paul Koss struck out the final two batters for his third save of the season giving Edinburg the 2-1 victory.

The Roadrunners and Colts will wrap up their two-game series Saturday night at Foster Field with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
