San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- First baseman Daryl Jones hit a walk-off RBI single to give the Colts an exhilarating 10-9 comeback victory over the Fort Worth Cats Thursday night at Foster Field.

With two outs and runners on second and third, Jones poked a base hit through the right side of the infield to drive home catcher Michael Pair as the winning run. Pair drew a leadoff walk.

Fort Worth reliever Kane Holbrooks (1-4) surrendered the game-winning run, and therefore took the loss. He pitched the final 1 2/3 innings for Cats.

Centerfielder Ronnie Gaines hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first, his eighth of the year, but the Colts trailed 8-2 midway through the game. They rallied for seven runs in the sixth inning to take their first lead.

Seven men reached base and all scored to begin the sixth. That stretch was capped off by designated hitter Cory and third baseman Landon Camp. Patton hit a three-run double, and Camp followed that up with a two-run homer that gave San Angelo a 9-8 lead. It was Camp's team-best 10th home run of the year.

The Colts bullpen held Fort Worth to just one run from the fifth inning on. Closer Erik Draxton (4-1) earned the win by pitching a scoreless top of the ninth.

The win improves San Angelo to 34-32, while the loss drops Fort Worth to 36-29. San Angelo begins a two-game series against the Edinburg Roadrunners Friday night at Foster Field.

Friday is Eye Black Giveaway Night, sponsored by Heidi Douma State Farm. The first 1,000 fans through the front gates will receive free Colts' eye black strips, courtesy of Heidi Douma State Farm. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
