Rome, GA - The Rome Braves edged the Delmarva Shorebirds 1-0 Wednesday night at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 1,490.

Rome got the only run they needed in the fifth inning thanks to a throwing error by Delmarva's Jean Carlos Encarnacion allowing Marcos Almonte to score for the 1-0 lead. Pitching was the name of the game this evening as Rome's starter Alan Rangel enjoyed a solid outing going seven shutout innings allowing just two hits.

Rangel (4-6) gets the well-deserved victory while Ryan Wilson (0-3) is tagged with the loss. Kelvin Rodriguez (13) earns the save.

The Braves take on the Shorebirds in the final game of the series tomorrow evening at seven. For information contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
