Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release
Traverse City, MI - It was an evening for offense Thursday at Pit Spitters Park, as the hosts and visiting Battle Creek Bombers combined for 29 hits and 16 runs. The Pit Spitters opened the two-game home set against the Bombers with a 12-4 victory.
Despite the lopsided final score, the Pit Spitters found themselves behind, going into the bottom of the second inning. The Bombers plated three in the top half off Pit Spitters starter Chad Patrick (SO Purdue Northwest,) behind three hits and an error. The Traverse City club immediately struck back with four of their own in the bottom of the inning, consecutive RBI knocks from Drake Titus (SO Army) and Hudson Byorick (JR Wofford,) getting the job done.
The Pit Spitters would go on to add three runs in the fifth and five in the seventh, when they batted around. Leading the offensive attack on the evening were Byorick, Mario Camilletti (SO Oakland,) who tallied three hits, and RBI, and a stolen bag, Jake Wilson (JR Bowling Green,) who rapped out three hits, stole a bag, and scored a run, and catcher Ryan Hampe (FR Illinois Chicago,) who had three knocks and drove in a pair.
Taking the win in the contest was right hander Chad Patrick who improves to 2-2, with the loss falling to Bombers starter Josh Hranicky, taking him to 1-4 on the campaign.
The Pit Spitters return to action Friday, with a 7:05 p.m. rematch with the Battle Creek Bombers. Every Friday is "Fireworks Friday," at Pit Spitters Park, with a postgame fireworks display. Gates will open at 6:00 p.m.
