Kenosha, WI - The Traverse City Pit Spitters win the first game of the series 11-3 to the Kenosha Kingfish after scoring seven runs in the first inning. Taking game one of their second road series of the season, they improve their record to 4-1 on the season. The Spitters look for a series sweep against Kenosha tomorrow night.

The first game of the two-game series against the Kenosha Kingfish ended with a win after 9 innings at Simmons field this evening. With a hot start at the plate, Jayden Dentler was able to settle down early, throwing seven innings of one run ball, allowing the Pit Spitters to win game one.

Seven straight Pit Spitters went up to the plate to start the game without recording an out which included four walks and three hits which brought across four runs. After their first out, Devin Hukill singled bringing across another run extending their lead to 5-0. After another hit single by Colin Summerhill pushing their lead to 6-0, Hukill scored on a wild pitch which capped off their first inning of scoring ending the top of the first inning 7-0. With the offense slowing down after the first inning, it was all Dentler as he threw seven innings, striking out four, giving up three hits and only allowing one run. Kingfish got one back in the bottom of the fourth as Sawyer Smith led off with a walk. Stealing second, then advancing to third on a wild pitch, Tucker Zdunich singled to left field bringing across a run. With two outs in the top of the eighth, Parker Brosius tripled to right field. After a walk by Riley Frost, Zach Johnson singled to center bringing across an insurance run extending their lead to 8-1. The Kingfish mounted a rally in the bottom of the eighth inning as the first two batters drew a walk followed by a double by Smith that brought in a run cutting the lead to 8-2. A sacrifice fly hit by Zdunich allowed one more runner to come across making it a 8-3 game. After the Pit Spitters walked their first four batters of the top of the ninth, Kyle Hayes walked extending their lead to 9-3. Summerhill came across on a wild pitch making it 10-3. Brosius hit a sacrifice fly which gave the Pit Spitters their final score of 11-3

The Pit Spitters continue their hot start to the season with a 4-1 record, winning two out of the first three road games. Making their way with a 4-1 record in the Great Lakes Division. RHP Jayden Dentler earns his first win of the season. The Pit Spitters scored 11 runs, on seven hits, as well as drawing a combined nine walks.
