Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, Pa. - Pittsburgh Pirates right hander Ross Ohlendorf is scheduled to make his next rehab start with the Altoona Curve at 6 p.m. on Sunday when the Curve take on the New Britain Rock Cats in the final game of the four-game series, the Pirates announced today. Ohlendorf has been on the 60-day disabled list with a right shoulder posterior strain.
This will be the second time that Ohlendorf has rehabbed with Altoona but will be the first time he has done so in Altoona. Last season, the Princeton product made one rehab start for Altoona in Richmond on May 5th at The Diamond and pitched four innings of shutout ball with six strikeouts.
In his two previous rehab starts with Bradenton leading up to his scheduled start this Sunday with Altoona, Ohlendorf went a combined 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA.
The 6-4, 240-pound Ohlendorf made two starts to begin the season with Pittsburgh before landing on the disabled list. He was 0-0 with a 7.27 ERA in those two starts while allowing seven runs in 8.2 IP with five walks and six strikeouts. This is his third full season in Pittsburgh after being acquired from the New York Yankees along with Jose Tabata, Jeff Karstens and Daniel McCutchen in exchange for Xavier Nady and Damaso Marte in 2008.
An edition of Sunday Night Fireworks on Cambria County Night presented by Conemaugh Health System and the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat as well as another FREE Galliker's Kids' Club Game closes down the four-game set vs. New Britain on Sunday. All Kids' Club members will gain free entry into the game by showing their membership card. For those not yet entered into the club, those ages 12 and under can be registered at the box office anytime and still gain free admission to the game.
Sunday will also feature a mascot-sized birthday party for Steamer, Tenacious, Al Tuna and Diesel Dawg. After the game, kids will run the bases.
Tickets for Ohlendorf's scheduled rehab start, as well as all other Curve games, can be purchased by calling 877.99.CURVE, by visiting AltoonaCurve.com or by stopping by the box office windows at BCB.
