BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce today Navy Night Friday, Aug. 5, as the Baysox take on the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at 7:05 p.m. The event features nautical-themed promotions between innings and a postgame fireworks extravaganza courtesy of Navy Federal Credit Union.

The team is proud to welcome the entire Plebe class of the U.S. Naval Academy for the event. The class consists of more than 1,200 men and women that are currently in the middle of a six week training period, preparing for life at the Academy. The training period prepares Plebes for the rigorous academic year at the Academy, as well as teaching them about the traditions of the Naval Service and Naval Academy and basic military skills and the meanings behind them.

Baysox Assistant General Manager Phil Wrye works with the Navy on the event. "We appreciate and welcome all branches of the armed forces," Wrye said. "But we have a special relationship with the Navy. With the Academy so close to our stadium and a number of Naval bases in our region, we have built an outstanding rapport over the years. We really enjoy having the entire Plebe class visit the stadium."

The Academy is located in Annapolis, Md., approximately 14 miles from the stadium. This year marks the 12th anniversary of Navy Night at Prince George's Stadium.
