GREENSBORO, NC - Ricardo Pinto gave up one unearned run over seven innings while Alexis Rivero threw a perfect 8th and 9th as the BlueClaws topped Greensboro 2-1 on Saturday night at NewBridge Bank Park.

Pinto, who improved to 5-1, has now thrown seven innings in four of his nine starts this year and he lowered his ERA to 2.68. Rivero, who earned his 4th save, has not allowed a run in 9.2 innings since assuming the closer's role on May 14th.

The BlueClaws got on the board quickly, with Malquin Canelo doubling leading off the game and then he was driven home by Carlos Tocci's RBI double. Canelo has led off the first inning with a hit in three of the last six BlueClaws games.

Lakewood and Canelo extended their lead in the 6th inning when Canelo homered to left, his second home run of the season, both of which have come at NewBridge Bank Park.

Greensboro got a run in the bottom of the 6th inning on a SAC fly by Brian Schales, an unearned run set up by a throwing error from catcher Deivi Grullon.

The BlueClaws (24-24) got back to .500 with the win while Greensboro (20-29) dropped their 11th of their last 14 games. The BlueClaws have taken two of the first three games in the four-game series.

In addition to Canelo's two hits, Herlis Rodriguez went 2-4 for the BlueClaws and is 12 for his last 28.

The series with Greensboro concludes on Sunday at 4:05 pm. LHP Josh Taylor (2-4) starts for Lakewood opposite RHP Tyler Kolek (3-2).
