Idaho Stampede News Release
BOISE, Idaho, March 5, 2013 - For the second straight year, the Idaho Stampede helped raise money for St. Luke's, but this year they made a name for themselves by shining a light on the names of others.
The Idaho Stampede, in conjunction with AuctionFrogs.org and St. Luke's Mountain States Tumor Institute (MSTI), raised a total of $6,781.00 through an auction of specially-made pink jerseys the team wore on February 1 and 2. In addition, the team auctioned off Stampede gear and other donated gifts from local businesses, and sold raffle tickets for official team shooting shirts.
The specially-made pink jerseys featured the names of friends and family of Stampede fans who dealt with cancer. In all, approximately 100 names appeared on the back of each jersey.
Money raised from this event will be used by MSTI Breast Care Services to fund mammograms for those who cannot afford them.
"The partnership with St. Luke's MSTI is great and the uniqueness of our jerseys provide for a wonderful fundraiser. Not only did we play with the names of Stampede fans affected by cancer on our backs, but we played with them in our hearts," Stampede President and General Manager Steve Brandes said. "In addition, we are so proud to help bring awareness to something that really needs the attention of our community. We are thrilled to raise money to provide mammograms to those who can't afford them."
