Erie BayHawks News Release

Erie, Pennsylvania, Tuesday, March 5 - With just days remaining before the NBA Development League trade deadline, the Erie BayHawks and Rio Grande Valley Vipers completed a five player trade on Tuesday afternoon. Erie sent forward Mike Singletary and guard D.J. Kennedy to the Vipers in exchange for guards Mustafa Shakur and Terrel Harris as well as forward Wesley Witherspoon.

"We are excited to have Mustafa Shakur, Terrel Harris, and Wesley Witherspoon. I believe they will be great additions to the BayHawks and Coach Cross is committed to their development. We appreciate the heart and toughness D.J. Kennedy consistently brought to the BayHawks and Mike Singletary was a true professional. We wish them well." said BayHawks General Manager, Allan Houston.

Shakur (6-4, 213, Arizona) spent the past two seasons playing in Italy. The Vipers held his rights from a previous stint in the D-League. For the season, Shakur is averaging 11.5 points, 3.4 assists and 3.3 rebounds for Sidigas Avellino. He also spent time with the Oklahoma City Thunder, New Orleans Hornets and Washington Wizards.

Harris (6-5, 190, Oklahoma State) is averaging 12.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in the D-League this season. He has connected on 46.9% of his three point shots on the year. He appeared in 22 games last season for the NBA champion Miami Heat, averaging 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 14.6 minutes per game. He was released by the Heat in January, appearing in seven games this season.

Witherspoon (6-9, 215, Memphis) participated in the San Antonio Spurs' 2012 training camp. He began the season with the Austin Toros before being traded to Rio Grande Valley where he has averaged 4.7 points per game in 15 appearances.

Singletary, who was acquired earlier this season in a three team deal, will return to the Vipers averaging 11.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game this season. Kennedy, who ranks third in the team's history for scoring and rebounds, second in assists and first in steals, is averaging 18.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this year. He recently participated in the 2013 NBA Development League All-Star game.

Shakur, Harris and Witherspoon are all expected to be in uniform for Erie's game on Friday as they host the Springfield Armor at 7 PM.
