SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota, March 5, 2013 - Six Idaho Stampede players reached double-figures and Mike Peck's crew beat the Sioux Falls Skyforce 109-102 in the only meeting this year between Idaho and Joel Abelson's club. Abelson was an assistant coach and associate head coach for the Stampede the previous four seasons.
Justin Harper and Coby Karl each had 18 points, while Justin Holiday added 16 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Holiday continued his streak to nine straight games with two or more steals, with at least five thefts in four of his last five contests. Durrell Summers added 15 points, while bench players Reggie Hamilton and Sean Evans (nine rebounds) each added 12 points.
Idaho (12-24) trailed 83-72 after the third quarter, but held Sioux Falls (21-17) to without a field goal until the 6:59 mark of the fourth quarter. The next few minutes saw back and forth scores until Idaho was able to stretch out a five-point lead after a 100-100 tie with two shots made by Karl. His three-pointer with 43.8 solidified the win. There were nine lead changes and two times tied in the fourth quarter alone as Idaho stormed back with a 37-19 final quarter.
Demetris Nichols had a game-high 26 points for Sioux Falls, while Jarvis Varnado added 10 rebounds and six blocked shots. Damian Saunders had 23 points and Andre Barrett added 16 points and 15 assists.
