
Pigs Get the Win in Rain-Shortened Contest

(Papillion, Neb) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (31-24) get their first-ever win in Omaha as they defeated the Storm Chasers (27-26) 5-1 on Tuesday evening. The game ended after the conclusion of the top of the seventh inning due to rain.
The Storm Chasers scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Vinnie Pasquantino hit a sacrifice fly against Corey Oswalt that scored Ivan Castillo. Oswalt allowed just the one run over 2 2/3 innings. He gave up three hits while issuing two walks and recorded one strikeout.
Darick Hall tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth inning when he hit an RBI single against Storm Chasers pitcher Jackson Kowar (3-4). Dalton Guthrie put the 'Pigs ahead 2-1 in the top of the fifth inning when he hit an RBI single that scored Ali Castillo.
Lehigh Valley scored three more runs against Kowar to extend their lead to 5-1 in the top of the sixth inning. Castillo hit a two-run single that scored Jorge Bonifacio and Rafael Marchan. Castillo scored on a throwing error by catcher Cam Gallagher.
Jonathan Hennigan pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of Oswalt. Jose Alvarado (1-0) earned the win by striking out two batters over one inning pitched. James Marvel also pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
The IronPigs and Storm Chasers will play again on Wednesday evening at Werner Park. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m.
