Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds took game one of the six-game series against the Durham Bulls on Tuesday night at AutoZone Park by a final score of 6-5.
For the second time in three games, an MLB rehabber drilled a late-inning home run to give Memphis the lead. On Tuesday night, it was designated hitter Dylan Carlson with a three-run bomb to make the score 6-5.
In his first appearance with Memphis this season, Carlson went 3-for-3 with the homer, a double and a walk. The left-handed hitter also scored three times. Carlson's home run marked the 15th consecutive game with a blast, the team's longest of the season.
Left fielder Alec Burleson added an RBI to his team-leading total of 43 with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first to score Carlson.
Kyle Ryan (4-0) earned the win in relief of starting pitcher Connor Thomas. Brandon Waddell earned his third save of the season.
The Memphis Redbirds (32-23) will return home to AutoZone Park for game two of a six-game series and 12-game homestand against the Durham Bulls on Wednesday, June 8 for a 7:05 p.m. CDT first pitch.
