Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (42-53) dropped the series finale to the Rochester Red Wings (51-44) by a score of 6-2 on Sunday afternoon at Frontier Field.

Chris McGuiness (1-4, HR, 2 RBI, R) gave the Pigs a 2-0 lead in the top of the second with a two-run blast off of Wings starter Greg Peavey. It was McGuiness' second home run of the season.

Peavey (1-4) gave up the two runs on six hits to go along with three walks and five strikeouts over six innings of work.

Rochester plated three in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead as Argenis Diaz delivered the big blow with a two-run double and Carlos Paulino knocked home a run with an RBI single. All three runs came with two outs after Pigs SS Devin Lohman misplayed a pop up in shallow left center field that was ruled a bloop single for Danny Ortiz. Following Ortiz, the next four batters would reach safely in the inning, which led to the three runs.

The Red Wings extended the lead to 6-2 with three runs in the seventh as Paulino plated a pair with a two-run double and later scored on a James Beresford sac fly.

All six runs were charged to Pigs starter Severino Gonzalez (1-5) who gave up the six runs on seven hits while walking one and fanning one over 6.1 IP.

RHP Dalier Hinojosa (1.2 IP, H, BB, K) had a scoreless relief outing in his team debut for the Pigs.

Russ Canzler (2-4, 2B) had a multi-hit game for Lehigh Valley.

The IronPigs will return home to begin a four-game set with the Toledo Mud Hens on Monday night at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. as LHP Anthony Vasquez (5-3, 4.32) will get the ball for the Pigs against Toledo RHP Tim Melville (3-8, 4.93).
