Today's Game
This afternoon, the Bisons take on the Columbus Clippers in the final game of a four-game set at Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). The Bisons can earn a split of the series with a victory today. The Herd's homestand continues tomorrow with the first of four games with Syracuse.
vs. the Clippers
The Bisons are 3-3 against the Clippers. Buffalo won two of three in Columbus, May 18-20. The winner of today's game will claim the season series victory as these clubs will not meet again in 2015. Buffalo has gone 5-3 against the Clippers in each of the past three years.
Matt Boyd
LHP Matt Boyd makes his fifth career Triple-A start this afternoon. The southpaw allowed four runs over six innings in a no-decision on July 11 against the RailRiders. Boyd already has 24 strikeouts in his first 25.0 innings of work, including 11 in only 37 at-bats against lefties.
MattVP
INF MATT HAGUE is hitting an even .600 (12-20) during a six-game hit streak since July 10. His .354 average is now 28 points higher than any other IL batter. He also leads the league with 121 hits and a .441 on-base pct. With his team-leading sixth home run last night, Hague now sports a .485 slugging pct. -second-best in the IL.
Alex Hassan
OF ALEX HASSAN reached base four times last night with a single, two walks and a two-run home run. The slugger has averaged .370 (17-46) in July with a .587 slugging pct. and a 1.018 OPS. Last night's effort was already his sixth multi-hit performance of the month.
Dalton Pompey
OF DALTON POMPEY is 3-8 with run scored in his first two games back with Herd. Pompey played 31 games with New Hampshire (AA) in June and early July and hit .351 (47-134) with 11 extra-base hits and 22 RBI. He hit .358 (19-53) in 12 games for the Herd last season.
Bisons Bits
RHP CHAD JENKINS is 5-1 with a 1.69 ERA in 20 relief outings without an earned run against him since June 9...The Bisons are an IL-best 34-6 (.850) when scoring first in games...Buffalo has just two stolen bases in 16 games this month.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (46-47) lost 3-2 to the Rays on Saturday. Jose Bautista homered for Toronto, but the Jays were held to just six hits in the loss. Former Bison R.A. Dickey allowed just one run in six innings. Toronto hosts the Rays for the rubbermatch of their three-game series today at 1:07 p.m.
