Bats Drop Series Finale to RailRiders, 7-1

LOUISVILLE Ky.- The Louisville Bats (46-50) dropped the series finale by the score of 7-1 against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (51-46). The RailRiders had 13 hits on the night compared to the six by Louisville. The Bats dropped three of the four games in the series.

The RailRiders wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. In the top of the first inning, Jose Pirela reached first on a walk. He was then moved to third by a single from Greg Bird to right field and then scored off of a sacrifice fly off the bat of Gary Sanchez.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre added on five runs in the third after three walks were issued along with three RailRiders' singles and a double. The RailRiders tagged on another run in the sixth after they picked up three singles and a sacrifice fly to take a commanding 7-0 lead.

Louisville got their lone run in the bottom of the ninth after Ramon Cabrera hit an RBI double to left field which scored Jermaine Curtis.

Offensively, The RailRiders' Greg Bird led all hitters going 4-for-5 with 2 RBI. The Bats' Cabrera was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Brennan Boesch was 2-for-4 on the night.

Keyvius Sampson (L, 1-4, 6.39) started the game for Louisville and suffered the loss. Sampson threw two and one-thirds innings. He gave up five hits, six earned runs, and four walks while striking out one.

Jose Ramirez (W, 3-0, 3.14) picked up the win for the RailRiders. Ramirez pitched two innings and gave up two hits, no runs, two walks while striking out two.

Louisville will travel to Columbus for game one of a four game split series Monday night. Expected to pitch for the Bats is right-handed pitcher Matt Buschmann (1-2, 3.90). For Columbus, righty Josh Tomlin (NR) is expected to start. Game time is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
