Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

Phillies RHP Chad Billingsley - sidelined since mid-May due to a strained right shoulder -- is scheduled to make a rehab start when the IronPigs host the Buffalo Bisons at Coca-Cola Park on Tuesday, June 16, at 7:05 p.m. Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network is the exclusive sponsor of all Major League rehabilitation appearances at Coca-Cola Park. He made four rehab starts earlier this season with the IronPigs, posting a 1-1 mark and a 4.74 ERA.

Billingsley, 30, was signed by the Phillies to a one-year deal on 1/29/15 after missing most of the last two seasons following "Tommy John" surgery and a flexor tendon injury in 2014. Billingsley had not appeared in the Majors since April of 2013 before rejoining the Phillies this May and going 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA in 3 starts prior to the shoulder strain. Before joining the Phillies organization, Billingsley was a mainstay in the Los Angeles Dodgers rotation, winning double-digit games in six consecutive seasons from 2007-2012, including a career-high 16 in 2008. Billingsley and Cole Hamels were the only NL pitchers to accomplish the double-digit win feat over that period.

A former first round pick (24th overall) of the Dodgers in 2003, Billingsley was twice named the Dodgers Minor League Pitcher of the Year before debuting with the Major League club in June of 2006. During his first full season in 2007, he went 12-5 with a 3.31 ERA, posting the 2nd-best road ERA (2.59) in the Major Leagues (Jake Peavy, 2.57). During his career-best 2008 campaign in which he posted 16 wins, he finished 5th in the NL in strikeouts (207), 7th in ERA (3.14) and T-7th in wins. He also won his first career postseason start in Game Two of the NLDS against the Chicago Cubs, yielding just one earned run in 6.2 innings).

In 2009, Billingsley was named an All-Star for the first time while leading the Dodgers in wins (12) and ranking 2nd on the club in both innings (196.1) and strikeouts (179).

The Defiance, Ohio native currently resides in Robesonia, Pa., located less than 50 miles from Coca-Cola Park.
