Pigs Open Series with Buffalo

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will begin a four-game set with the Buffalo Bisons on Monday night at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. The IronPigs enter play at 23-42 on the year after splitting a four-game series at Norfolk over the weekend. Buffalo currently stands at 31-33 this season after taking three of four from Charlotte. The Bisons are 7-1 against the Pigs season.

LHP Anthony Vasquez (3-1, 2.73) gets the ball for the Pigs in the series opener. Last time out, Vasquez got a no-decision at Durham on Wednesday after allowing six runs (four earned) on eight hits to go along with a walk and four strikeouts in 4.1 IP. Over his 5 GS thus far, right-handed hitters are hitting just .195 (15-77) against the southpaw.

LHP Felix Doubront (0-2, 2.32) will be on the bump for the Bisons. Doubront was tagged with the loss vs. Scranton/W ilkes-Barre on Wednesday when he gave up five runs on seven hits, walked one and fanned three over four innings of work. In 5 of 6 GS this year, the Carabobo, Venezuela native has allowed two earned runs or less and has struck out 26 batters in 31.0 IP.

There will be a Phillie Phanatic Appearance on Monday night presented by Lutron Electronics. It is also Faith Night at Coca-Cola Park.
