Pheasants Win Against Saltdogs

Leading 2-1 entering the fourth inning, the Sioux Falls Pheasants plated three runs to extend the cushion to 5-1 and they never looked back en route to their four-game sweep of the Lincoln Saltdogs. Sioux Falls starting pitcher Brian Flores allowed one run and surrendered two hits while fanning five in six innings of work to earn his first win. Pheasants reliever Brandon Rapoza gave up a run over two innings, but held on for the save. 2B Joe Anthonsen and SS Tim Hutting each went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI to lead the way offensively for Sioux Falls.

Grand Prairie 4, Pensacola 3

The Pensacola Pelicans plated a run in the top of the ninth inning to take a 3-2 lead, but Grand Prairie answered in a big way, scoring twice in the bottom of the frame, on the way to a walk-off win. CF Robert Perry was 2-for-4 to lead the AirHogs offense and reliever Edgar Estanga was credited with his first win despite allowing a run in the ninth. He allowed three hits and struck out two in two innings. Pelicans DH Antoin Gray led all hitters, going 4-for-4 with a run scored in the losing effort.

El Paso 5, Sioux City 3

All but one player in the El Paso lineup recorded at least one hit as the Diablos rolled to a win over Sioux City. With the victory, El Paso salvaged a split of the four-game series. C Adam Deleo and LF Jonathan Reynoso each went 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead the way for the Diablos. Starting pitcher Shaun Ellis allowed just two runs despite allowing five hits and eight walks in 5.2 innings to pick up his first win of the season. Diablos reliever P.J. Bevis tossed a 1-2-3 ninth inning to earn the save. LF Jon Owings was 2-for-5 with a solo home run to lead the way for Sioux City in the loss.
