SHREVEPORT, La. - The Shreveport-Bossier Captains and Willis-Knighton Health System announced a new two-year agreement today, with WKHS to once again be the official medical partner of the Captains.

Willis-Knighton Sports Medicine will provide all the trainers and medical supplies for the Captains, under the direction of team physician Dr. R. Shane Barton. Willis-Knighton will be visible at Fair Grounds Field, as well as on the Captains' Web site at www.sbcaptains.com, which recognizes the health system as the official sports medicine provider for the Captains.

"Willis-Knighton did a great job with us last year and it was a no-brainer to work with them again for the next two seasons," Captains VP/General Manager Craig Brasfield said. "Dr. Barton and the trainers really helped us get through last season, and I know that they will once again be crucial to our success in 2010.

Willis-Knighton will again sponsor several promotional events this season, helping bring affordable family entertainment to the Shreveport-Bossier area. The health system will present a "Turn Back the Clock Night" featuring throwback Shreveport Captains uniforms on June 25. WKHS will also be the sponsor of Back to School Night, featuring Shots for Tots on July 23, and of Cancer Awareness Night on August 20.

Additionally, the Captains will wear Willis-Knighton patches on all of their uniforms this year.

"Minor league baseball enjoys a rich history in Shreveport and the Captains' organization is keeping the tradition alive," said Darrell Rebouche, WKHS Assistant Adminstrator. "At Willis-Knighton Health System, we are excited to extend our relationship with the team. Our sports medicine program is second to none in this region and we will continue to provide the highest level of care for the Captains' players."

The Captains will bring back "Willis-Knighton Wednesdays" as well, where all children 12 and under will receive a coupon for a free kid's meal with a paid ticket to the ballpark.

The Shreveport-Bossier Captains have Monday off, before opening their home schedule with a day-night doubleheader against Pensacola on Tuesday May 18. All games will be broadcast on ESPN Radio, KRMD-1340 AM as well as streaming live on supertalk1340.com. For information on tickets, promotions, advertising, and other opportunities with the Captains, check out the team's Web site at www.sbcaptains.com, or call the Fair Grounds Field office at (318) 636-5555.
