SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - On Monday The American Association announced that Sioux Falls Pheasants centerfielder Reggie Abercrombie has been named Pointstreak Batter of the Week, and left-handed hurler Brian Flores has been named Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week.

In four games from May 13 to May 16, Abercrombie batted.400, hit a grand slam home run, and drove in eight RBI. He also stole three bases. Abercrombie is a former major leaguer, with 180 games played for the Florida Marlins and Houston Astros.

Flores (1-0) had a strong start against the Lincoln Saltdogs on May 16 to earn his first victory. Over six innings he gave up only one run on two hits and two walks, while striking out five. Flores is in his first season of independent baseball after three years in the Tampa Bay Rays organization.

"They both earned it," Pheasants manager Steve Shirley said. "They played key roles in helping us get off to such a great start."

The Pheasants swept the Lincoln Saltdogs in a four-game series to begin the season a perfect 4-0.

Sioux Falls returns to action on the road at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, against the Wichita Wingnuts. The game will be broadcast live on Sioux Falls Sports Radio KWSN 1230-AM.

The Sioux Falls Fighting Pheasants are in their 18th season of professional baseball. The Pheasants are members of the American Association, a 10-team independent professional baseball league playing its fifth season this summer.
