Sioux Falls Canaries News Release
SIOUX FALLS - Sioux Falls Pheasants have just three more chances to see their team when the Birds open a weekend series this Friday, August 24, against the Sioux City Explorers.
To help celebrate the finale of the 20th-Anniversary season, the weekend is packed with activities, celebrations and giveaways.
This Friday is the final Friday Night Fireworks. The first 1,000 fans through the gates on Friday will receive a FREE Pheasants baseball, compliments of A & B Business. It is also "Stampede Night" with the Pheasants. The Herd are recharged and ready for the upcoming 2012-13 season, and the Pheasants are inviting fans to meet the coaches and some of the players. New head coach Cary Eades and assistant coach Dallas Steward will be on hand for the game. Returning players Reed Whiteside and Ian Mansfield are scheduled to appear along with several new players on this year's roster.
The players will be signing autographs inside the stadium from 6-7 p.m. while Coach Eades will be throwing out the first pitch!
Be sure to arrive early and check out a special ribbon cutting with the Sioux Falls Chamber at home plate as they welcome the new ownership group to Sioux Falls!
Fireworks are sponsored by Sanford Health and All-Star Fireworks.
On Saturday, August 25, it's Mascot Mania! The fan-favorite Mascot Olympics are back for another season! Who will take home the crown this year? Ringer has been feverishly training in the off season as he vows to not lose this year!
Also on hand will be former Canaries intern and assistant general manager Becky Moen. She will hold a book signing to celebrate her recently published novel about working for the Canaries from 1993-1996, "Down and Inside: The Mostly True Story of a Girl's Life in the Minors." The book peeks into the inner workings of the club, including the fans, the Cage-a-Canary family housing program, the front office and the players. Moen will sign autographs from 5-6:30 p.m. in the main concourse. First pitch is 6:05 p.m.
On Sunday, August 26, it's Fan Appreciation Night! It's the last home game of the regular season, and the Pheasants want to thank their valued season-ticket holders and fans! Fans will likely come away with some great giveaways! Stick around after the game as kids can run the bases and get player autographs one final time. First pitch is 5:05 p.m.
"Kids FREE" also continues through the final weekend. Two children 12-and-under are free with every purchase of an adult ticket ($12 seating). This offer is compliments of Sanford Children's.
Information about individual tickets and group outings with the Sioux Falls Pheasants is available by calling (605) 336-6060 or visiting www.sfpheasants.com .
