Sasaki Pitches Lemurs to Win

Laredo, TX - After the 16 inning affair last night the Laredo Lemurs needed a strong pitching performance from their starter Ryan Sasaki, and that's exactly what they got, as the Lemurs beat the Amarillo Sox 6-2 on Wednesday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.

Ryan Sasaki got off to a rough start giving up two runs, on four hits, in the first inning, but he settled down nicely to earn the win for the Lemurs. Overall Sasaki threw seven, giving up two runs, on five hits, with one walk, and one strikeout. Sasaki retired the side in order four times in his seven innings of work.

The Lemurs also came through at the plate as Stephen Douglas contributed a two run homerun to tie the game at two in the third. Jimmy Mojica also hit a homerun with his coming in the seventh to extend the Lemurs lead to four runs. Mojica has hit three homeruns in the last five games, with two coming in this series.

Javier Brito had a nice night for the Lemurs, as he picked up two hits, in three at bats, with a double, and a run scored. Anthony Scelfo also grabbed two hits, in three at bats, with a run scored.

Starting pitcher Chuck Lofgren took the loss for the Amarillo Sox, going six and two thirds, giving up six runs, on seven hits, with two walks, and a strikeout. This is the first loss that Lofgren has taken this year against the Lemurs in four starts.

With the win the Lemurs stay a game back behind the division leading Grand Prairie Airhogs.

The Laredo Lemurs be home taking on the Amarillo Sox and the El Paso Diablos through August 28th. This is the Lemurs last regular season homestand, so get you tickets now.
