August 23, 2012 - American Association (AA) News Release
Gary SouthShore 1, Winnipeg 0
RailCats RHP Morgan Coombs pitched eight innings of brilliant, scoreless baseball to propel Gary SouthShore to a 1-0 win over Winnipeg. Coombs allowed just five hits and struck out six in his outing to secure his sixth win of the year and second win in a row.
As good as Coombs was, the Goldeyes pitching staff was equally impressive. Despite the loss, four Winnipeg pitchers held Gary SouthShore to one run on three hits. The lone run came on an RBI double off the bat of 1B Mike Rohde in the fourth. Rohde's double off starter Matt Rusch scored 3B Brian Kolb with the game's only run. Rusch took the loss, though he only allowed two hits over six innings of work.
