St. Paul 9, Rockland 2
St. Paul completed the sweep of Rockland and increased their winning streak to six games as the Saints downed the Boulders, 9-2. With the win, St. Paul stays 1 ½ games behind Winnipeg in the race for the wild card. Saints RF Miles Durham had a monster game at the plate going 3-for-4 with two home runs, three runs scored and four RBI. Third baseman Ronnie Bourquin chipped with a 4-for-4 game with a double, a home run, three runs scored and a RBI. St. Paul starting pitcher Anthony Claggett picked up the win as he allowed an earned run on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Grand Prairie 8, Fargo-Moorhead 5
What a huge win for Grand Prairie tonight as the AirHogs beat the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks by the score of 8-5. The victory by Grand Prairie keeps them one game ahead of Laredo and one and a half games up on El Paso in the South Division standings. Grand Prairie RF Jonny Kaplan went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI while 3B John Alonso had a two-hit game with two runs scored and two RBI. AirHogs reliever Derrick Miramontes picked up the win and improved his record to 7-1 on the season. Miramontes threw two scoreless innings allowing only a hit.
Kansas City 9, Sioux City 3
Kansas City scored two runs in the second inning and six more in the third to take an 8-0 lead after two and a half innings and would roll from there to a 9-3 win over Sioux City. T-Bones LF Brandon Jones went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Kansas City DH Lee Cruz collected three hits of his own, including a home run, along with two runs scored and a RBI. T-Bones starting pitcher Brian Grening threw a solid game en route to his ninth victory of the season. Grening allowed two earned runs on nine hits with two walks and three strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings pitched.
Winnipeg 7, Gary SouthShore 2
Winnipeg took a 6-0 lead after three and a half innings and would go on to get a big victory over the Gary SouthShore RailCats by the score of 7-2. Four Goldeyes hitters had two-hit games, including 1B Yurendell de Caster who went 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI. Winnipeg C Luis Alen added his fifth home run of the season and scored two runs. Goldeyes starting pitcher Chris Salamida notched his fifth win of the season as he gave up an earned run on eight hits with seven strikeouts. For the RailCats in the loss, 1B Brian Kolb plated two runs in a 2-for-3 game.
Laredo 6, Amarillo 2
Laredo won their fifth straight and stayed a game behind Grand Prairie in the South Division race as they defeated Amarillo, 6-2. Lemurs 1B Javier Brito and 2B Anthony Scelfo each went 2-for-3 on the night with a run scored. Centerfielder Stephen Douglas and SS Jimmy Mojica both hit two-run home runs for Laredo. Lemurs starter Ryan Sasaki picked up the win as he gave up two earned runs on five hits in seven innings pitched. With the victory, Sasaki is now 5-3 on the season.
