October 24, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Lehigh Valley Phantoms News Release
Lehigh Valley, PA - The Lehigh Valley Phantoms, proud AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, have signed forward Evan Rankin to a PTO (professional try-out).
A 29-year-old right wing from Portage, Michigan, Rankin began the season with the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL where he recorded one goal in the team's first two games. He spent the bulk of last season with the Rochester Americans where he tallied eight goals, seven assists and 15 points in 32 games.
A 6'1", 185-pound winger, Rankin boasts 191 career AHL games on his professional resume during which he's compiled 55 goals, 53 assists and 108 total points. He notched three consecutive double-digit AHL goal-scoring campaigns from 2011 to 2014, which was capped by a 16-goal, 30-point season with the Syracuse Crunch just two years ago.
The Phantoms are back at PPL Center tonight when the team kicks off a four-game home stand with a 7:05 p.m. tilt against the Providence Bruins. The first 8,500 fans in attendance this evening will receive a free magnet schedule presented by Capital BlueCross and Pita King.
The home stand continues tomorrow, Sunday, October 25, when the Toronto Marlies visit downtown Allentown for the first and only time this year for a 5:05 p.m. showdown. Sunday's game features a youth jersey giveaway where the first 2,500 kids 14 and under will receive a free youth hockey jersey courtesy of Capital BlueCross, Dick's Sporting Goods and Velaspan.
