WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have recalled forward Ty Loney from the Wheeling Nailers.

Loney, in his first full professional season, has scored two goals in two games with Wheeling.

The Valencia, Pa. native does have AHL experience, as he joined the Norfolk Admirals following the 2014-15 season with the University of Denver. Loney recorded a goal and two assists in his professional debut on April 7 at Binghamton. He finished his time in Norfolk with four points (2G-2A) in five appearances for the Admirals.

Loney takes to the pros after playing four seasons at the University of Denver. During his tenure with the Pioneers, Loney totaled 39 goals, 50 assists and 128 penalty minutes in 152 games. He helped lead Denver to two consecutive National Collegiate Hockey Conference championships (2014, 2015) and four straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

Loney joins a Penguins team that is in the midst of a three-game winning streak.

The Penguins are set to face-off against the Springfield Falcons tonight at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.
