Everett Silvertips News Release
SPOKANE, Wash. - Lasse Petersen earned a 24-save shutout in his debut, helping the Spokane Chiefs get by the Everett Silvertips, 3-0 at Spokane Arena on Wednesday night.
The Silvertips (8-5-1-1) had their three-game win streak come to an end, backed by Carter Hart's 29 saves after his return at 5:00 p.m. to Spokane Arena from the Canada vs. Russia Series. The Silvertips, without Noah Juulsen in the lineup (rest), were shut out for the second time this season and fell to 1-1-0-0 in the series.
The first period featured a five-on-three for Everett, unable to capitalize after Patrick Bajkov missed on the best look with a one-timer at the left circle that sailed wide of an open net. Hart stopped Spokane's best threat in the opening period, a giveaway to Markson Bechtold for a clear breakaway that Hart turned away with his right pad.
Curtis Miske's wrister from the top of the left circle put Spokane ahead, 1-0 on the power play with 3:50 left in the second period, after corralling Jason Fram's feed from the point. Kolten Olynek struck for another power play goal, putting Spokane ahead 2-0 at 12:10 of the third period on a similar shot that nestled under the crossbar.
Kailer Yamamoto got behind the Silvertips defense on a cleared puck by his brother, Keanu and stashed an empty net goal with 41 seconds remaining.
