Vancouver Giants News Release

Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants announced on Thursday that the club will induct one of the all-time great Giants players, former Captain Lance Bouma, into the Ring of Honour on November 20th prior to the Giants' game against the Victoria Royals at the Pacific Coliseum.

"Lance was one of my favourite players in Giants history because he emulated everything you want your team to be about," said Giants Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Bonner. "During his time with our team, we won a Memorial Cup, and we won a BC Division banner every season he was here. He is an extremely competitive, dedicated and relentless player which is why I'm not surprised that he has continued to improve with each season in the NHL. He also continues to give back to our club and is a great role model for our current players. We're incredibly excited to induct him into our Ring of Honour."

Bouma, a native of Provost, Alberta, was selected by the Giants at 29th overall in the second round of the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft. He played 230 games in a Vancouver uniform over parts of five seasons, tallying 39 goals and 76 assists to go along with 374 penalty minutes. He also suited up in 65 playoff games for the G-Men and was part of the Memorial Cup winning team in 2007. Bouma was drafted by the Calgary Flames in 2008 and has now appeared in 202 NHL games with the club, scoring 22 goals and 31 assists.
