Prince George, B.C. - The Prince George Cougars have traded 20-year-old goaltender Mack Shields (Saskatoon, SK) to the Medicine Hat Tigers in exchange for a seventh round pick in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.
Shields joined the Prince George Cougars as a free agent prior to Training Camp in 2015 after spending his first three seasons with the Calgary Hitmen. In eight games with the Prince George Cougars, Shields went 3-3 with a 3.29 goals-against-average, an .880 save percentage and one shutout.
"We are very happy that we were able to find a place for Mack to continue his WHL career as a 20-year-old," comments Prince George Cougars General Manager, Todd Harkins. "During his time in Prince George, he conducted himself with the utmost professionalism and class. He's a great leader, a great teammate and we wish him the very best moving forward."
With this trade, the Prince George Cougars roster now sits at 24 players: Two goaltenders, nine defencemen and 13 forwards. This trade also leaves the Cougars with a vacant 20-year-old roster spot.
